Hood River is about 60 miles up the Columbia River Gorge from Portland. Todd showed us a few of the sites along the way including Multnomah Falls, which is 600 feet tall and flows year round. We stopped at the fish hatchery and saw some salmon anxious to get upstream and a few ugly sturgeon including Herman who is about 6 feet long.
Todd and Stacey live in a wonderful old farm house complete with chickens in the back yard. Lucas helped clip the chickens' wings so they wouldn't leave the yard.
Riley and Lucy showed Lucas the local skate park. Then Lucas showed them a few of his skate tricks.
Todd also showed Lucas some of the nearby mountain bike trails. They both opted to avoid the man-made obstacles and keep all tires on the ground.
I took the opportunity to wander around and enjoy the beauty of the forest.
The fall fruits were amazing. We went to a local farm to buy apples and pears.
I have never seen such huge apples! They were sweet and really juicy.
We wrapped up our visit with some great Halloween fun!
